Our Door Is Always Open

Greater Morning View is an Outreach Ministry that provides Leadership development, mentoring, and administrative support to Pastors and churches brought together by a common heart and vision. WE ARE AN AUTOMOMOUS/Sovereign Church; which means that the organization is not tied to any other sovereign institution or entity nor does it depend on any particular sovereign nation state for its existence, but exists outside the jurisdiction of all such nation states.

Our Purpose, Our Goal

Our purpose is to ordain, recognize, validate and send forth those called by God to stand in positions of ministry to the Body of Christ. We also strive to assist in Kingdom Building.

Our goal is to provide a place for both ministers and churches to be established in present-day truth and accountability as well as be very supportive in providing enhancements to both the natural and spiritual gifts.

Meet Our Pastor

headshop of Pastor Harrington

Optimist, Determined, Radical, and Anointed is just a few ways to describe Bishop Tyrone Harrington. He was born Sunday, March 28, 1976, in Chicago, Illinois the third of three children, Bishop Harrington was reared in a good Christian home which provided much strength, courage and disciplining. He has served faithfully in ministry all his life and is a living testimony of how one can move from the back of the church all the way to the pulpit; he has worked successfully and skillfully in many ministries within the church and has held and worn many titles and hats.

On Wednesday, September 12, 2001, Bishop received and accepted his calling to the ministry as an aspiring minister of the Gospel, Sunday, January 20, 2002, at the Gospel Temple M. B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Bishop L. Smith; Rev. Harrington was licensed to preach the Gospel. On Sunday, April 27, 2003, Rev. Harrington received his Certificate of Ordination as an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach and preach the word of God to the world and uphold all other sacraments and ordinances of the church.

Bishop Harrington started pastoring (GMV) January 2006 after helping and serving the church for one year since that time the church membership has grown in spirit and in size and God is still adding to the kingdom daily. It was in 2009 that God had yet another mantel and office for his servant, and it was that of the office of the Bishopric. Through this elevation God has been connecting Bishop Harrington to help other Pastors, churches and young Leaders in ministry.

Our Ministries

Voices of the View

Our goal is to set the atmosphere for the move of God and to stir up the gifts of the members. It is our goal to cultivate and see everyone grow in their God given abilities. We believe that music controls the atmosphere when the right words are spoken, chains are broken.

Aaron’s Army

Our Mission is to develop a ministry which addresses the fellowship needs of men at GMV, provide information on service opportunities, and encourage GMV men to support church ministries.

Women’s of Excellence

Our primary goal is to prepare the women of GMV and the women of our communities to live an abundant life by teaching the Word of God in a simplistic and practical manner. Thereby, women will learn how to walk in love, live in the unity of the Spirit, demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit, and operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

JAM: Jesus & Me

Our priority is focusing on Spiritual growth and maturity in Christ, building new and strengthen old relationships. We empower young adults in the word of God to be responsible and accountable to one another.

Ark

Our goal is to encourage, uplift and build a strong healthy self image, while learning in a fun, faith-filled environment.

U & I Marriage

The Marriage Ministry of GMV will “build a hedge” around marriages, “stand in the gap” for those under assault and proclaim the perfect love of GOD. God’s covenant of marriage between one man and one woman must and will stand because the “TWO SHALL BE ONE”.

HOPE FOOD PANTRY

GMV Outreach Food Pantry

GMV HOPE Food pantry outreach ministry was created and given the driving force on November 22, 2010 by our leader Bishop Tyrone Harrington who released the ministry into the hands of Elder Velma Thompson who showed passion and zeal to carry the ministry into the community and surrounding areas of our church. Since that time we have fed over 50,000 families with bags and boxes of Hope (Helping Other People Endure). As well offered turkeys for thanksgiving, toys for needed children on Christmas and school supplies for children of all ages attending school.

GMV has made the motto: We make a living with what we get, and change lives with what we give..” not just a saying but the way we live. Doing for others have become our fuel and existence for ministry. We welcome all volunteers who wish to help us in our endeavors to please join your hand and service to ours and let’s continue to become a servant to many.

Our Story

Photo of the exterior of GMV Church

August 20, 1963 marked the official beginning of Greater Morning View under the supervision of Rev. R. L. Coleman Pastor of the True Right Church. The church met in the home of Rev. and Sis. R.D. Holley located at 8910 S. Mackinaw, Chicago IL. The Church has moved twice since then, in 1963 the church moved to 9001 S. Green Bay Ave. Later in 1973 the church moved to its present location 2335 E. 100th Street Chicago, IL 60617.

Rev. Harrington was first elected Pastor by God and then by a committee of deacons, trustees and members in December of 2005. Since that time the church moved forward and has not looked back. Pastor Harrington started in January 2006 and the church membership has grown in spirit and in size and God is still adding to the kingdom daily.God has blessed Greater Morning View to become a ministry that thinks out of the box, and through this thinking we have learned how to become “Our Brothers Keeper”.

Since the installation of our Pastor the Right Reverend Bishop Tyrone Harrington the church has hosted several community meeting with the efforts to stop the violence in the area. The church has hosted job fairs with the hope of every member being employed. Health fairs with the hopes of every member being a healthy member. Summer youth programs, “SAFE HAVEN” and Bishop’s mentoring program, Time Out which gives youth who are out of school a safe place to be where they can learn and have fun. Turkey giveaway where families can have a Thanksgiving dinner prepared for their love ones and Toy giveaway’s where no child is without a gift under their Christmas tree. We believe that if you take a little and place it in the right hands God will bring the increase.
